It has been years since I’ve attended a festival. And by attend I mean properly attend, as in camp in close confinement of complete strangers, stay up all night dancing, jump around in crowds full of people while it inevitably (if it’s a UK festival) pours down on top of you, survive on a diet of food that can either be cooked over a tiny camping stove or doesn’t need to be cooked at all (i.e. pot noodles and pringles) and generally enjoy the freedom of not washing your face for a whole weekend.
At the grand age of 29, I have to admit that I thought those days were behind me. The annual T In the Park antics of my youth seem like such a distant memory and as we begin plans for my friends festival hen do next year we are already starting to think about posh tipis and access to showers so as to avoid that sleeping bag hangover sweat which, lets face it, is the worst!
BUT it seems I was wrong as in a couple of weeks time I’ll be getting reading to don my wellies, prepare my flower crown and dig out my sleeping bag as I’m heading to Isle of Wight Festival courtesy of BT who are once again the official sponsor of the event, AND I couldn’t be more excited! I think because I haven’t experienced a festival in so long, the anticipation of three days of live music, dancing and hopefully sunshine has me feeling all giddy.
The even better news however, is that you, my dear readers could be joining me (and Biffy Clyro, Tom Odell, Kings of Leon and Calvin Harris to name just a few) at the event, as BT are running a fun competition where you can win two weekend camping tickets simply by answering an easy peasy question. To enter just head over to their competition page on the site and fill out your details. You have until the end of the day tomorrow to do so, so go go go! BT are the official sponsors of the festival and will be hosting the Big Top Tent, home to the likes of Boy George, Katy B and The Horrors, and the BT Sport ‘Field of Dreams’ area for the Football fans.
The festival takes place between the 12th – 15th June and you can find out more about it here. As well as the music there’s also a beach, a cabaret bar and the bohemian woods with wood fired hot tubs to chill out in when it all gets too much. The pics above are some of the highlights from last years line up, so if those are anything to go by it should be great! I can’t wait!!
Hope to see you there!
