I really love the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Venue –for some reason it always calms me –I think it is something to do with getting away from all the craziness around Somerset House and feeling like I can take some time out and relax. The little media lounge is a haven of calm compared to the one at Somerset House and the atmosphere is less obsessed with what everyone is wearing and more about seeing some great new designers.
So on day two I took some time out of my hectic Saturday and took my pew to see what Jacob Kimmie had to offer for SS12!
I missed Jacob Kimmie last season so didn’t have a whole lot of knowledge of his designs but his collection was interesting yet wearable – a range of monochromatic pieces, the show swayed back and forth from feminine white chiffon to sexy sheer black creations. Floral digital prints marked the only pattern in the collection and only one look came out in colour. Despite this though the collection had a distinctly summery feel with a mix of chic smart looks and effortless floaty numbers.
Almost every piece had a sheer element (I’ve not seen quite so much boobage at a show for a while) and often models were draped with veil like sheer headdresses or sheer capes over the dresses. A bit of shock value came half way through with a model strutting out in an angelic like long veil, white chiffon layered skirt, white choker collar, bird cage in hand and crucifixes stuck to her décolletage- weird but also strangely beautiful… Jacob Kimmie might just be one to watch!
