Hello you lovely lot! Let’s all do a mini cheer for it being Friday again, and for my first Five Things of the Week in 2016! I’ve decided not to make this a regular weekly post anymore but just have it drop in and say hello now and again when I actually have five interesting things to tell you about – like this week!
This week has been just as busy as every week since I returned from Honeymoon but I finally feel as if I’m starting to get my groove back and get stuck into this new year. A few projects and events have come along to make me excited about work, freelance life and blogging once again, and I’m feeling re-invigorated to get going with those plans I’ve set myself for 2016. It probably helped that the week began after a great weekend seeing all of my good friends and getting some down time in a lovely cottage in the Lakes. It was the first time I’d been re-united with my gang since we got back and I forgot how much I’d missed them all!
So here’s a look back at the week that was…
1. Pancake Day
When there’s something as exciting as pancakes to look forward to 1 day in to a new week, it’s usually guaranteed to be a good one right? We tucked into a huge stack of pancakes for dinner on Tuesday evening (no matter how often I cook them I never learn how many is enough) and I even attempted the Nutella surprise – put a dollop of pancake batter in the pan, add a dollop of Nutella and then put another dollop of pancake batter on top. Smoosh it around a little and take great care when flipping but you’l have yourself the tastiest pancake of all – which I will definitely be making again (especially as I was so excited to eat it I didn’t even take a photo!). If you’re planning on heading our for pancakes this weekend, check out my top 5 pancake places in London for ideas.
2. Exciting delivery!
We finally got our wedding photos back this week and it was all kinds of exciting/nervewracking to look through them. Our photographer (Amy Shore Photography – what a star!) very kindly sent us a lovely little package with some of the best photos printed out so we’re looking forward to displaying those. I have to admit to getting a little emosh when re-living the day, I’m pretty sad it’s all over to be honest and being the control freak that I am there are lots of little things I look back on and want to change (Whoever agreed to let three random strangers ‘spectate’ while I walked down the aisle, I may have to hunt you down and kill you as they are in every one of the shots of me and my Dad and I look nothing but bemused for them to be the first people I see). But I’m trying really hard to just hold onto all the good memories and pick the photos where I don’t have three chins to be the ones we frame. Wedding Week is scheduled for the last week in Feb so check back then to see all the details from our day (if you are at all interested!)
3. The prettiest muse in London
I met up with my lovely friend Danielle this week to help each other out with some blog photos (a cute pastel outfit which will be on the blog next week). It’s so much more fun photographing and doing all those annoying blogger cliche things with other bloggers, and I’ve realised that because I might not live in London forever, I really need to make the most of my time here and get out and see different parts of the city whenever I can (preferably with blogger mates so we can incorporate brunches, matcha lattes and flower pit stops). We stumbled across this pretty pastel lined muse in Notting Hill and shot my outfit against the most gorgeous pale blue wall. It was home to lots of creative studios, with their Pashley’s lined up outside and by the time we were done I was about ready to move in.
4. Bridebook preview
Yesterday I had the pleasure of stepping back into the wedding world for the morning as I attended an exclusive preview of BrideBook. Launching on Monday, Bridebook is the first fully online wedding planner, a website that helps you collate all of your wedding plans, budgets, and rsvp’s in one place as well as search for suppliers, venues and caterers and get inspiration from top wedding experts. You can create one account but have seperate log ins for your other half, family members or even your photographer/wedding co-ordinator so that you can easily delegate tasks and keep track of their progress. The idea being that you’ll never need to look at an excel spreadsheet again! I might already be married but I was super impressed with this tool – I would have killed for it to be available last year while we were planning, I got lost in a sea of spreadsheets, to-do lists and RSVP lists. Any of you who are newly engaged or planning your wedding at the moment, I’d definitely suggest you check it out! Weddings aren’t really a feature on this blog anymore so I was there in my (not so top secret) wedding capacity ahead of the launch of my own wedding website (coming soon I promise!). It was a lovely morning spent chatting with wedding industry peeps, eating a delicious brekkie at Browns Hotel and meeting the frankly amazing team behind the start up. I can’t wait to see it launch!
5. LOVE themed bakes!
Have you joined my Baking Club yet? If not, why not?? After only a week there’s already over 20 of us and February’s theme is LOVE so we’re coming over all romantic with our baking skills. I got in the kitchen and messed around with heart cutters and numerous sponge batches this afternoon for my attempt at a LOVE themed bake. It will be on the blog this Sunday (for Valentines of course) and even though it was the first time I’d tried this recipe I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. Sign up and find our more about the club right here and top marks if you can guess what my bake is from the above pic?
I hope you all had a great week too and enjoy the weekend ahead! I’ll see you all on Sunday when the blog will be coming over all lovey-dovey!
