In case you didn’t already know, today has been crowned Nike Air Max Day, meaning that if we didn’t already have a good enough excuse to wear trainers all day no matter the occasion, we definitely do now!
In honour of the day, I’m wearing my liquid silver limited edition Nike’s that I picked up in New York and have a couple of events lined up this evening at which to show them off at. When I first took them home from the big apple, I loved their shiny-ness so much I was almost scared to wear them in fear of marking or ruining their amazing lustre. Lately though, I’ve realised that shoes as shiny and happy as this are meant to be worn and enjoyed, and ever since I’ve been wearing them all over the shop from meetings, to events to weekends in the pub. The great thing about the trainer trend still going so strong, is that as long as you have some that aren’t too scruffy and have a little bit of eye catching detail or unusual colourings, they can actually be deemed quite smart, which is great news for freelancers the world over as when you’re dashing around all day meeting people/ office hopping there is nothing better than a comfy shoe.
Technically of course my silver surfers are a high top and not a classic Air Max, so of course when the emails started flooding in alerting me of Nike Air Max Day, the shopping part of my brain switched into action and immediately deemed the whole thing less of a marketing ploy and more of a sure fire sign from above that I should buy a pair of the trendy buggers I’ve been coveting for so long.
I’ve held off for so long as I couldn’t quite decide which design and colour-way I liked the best. As my silver ones are pretty out there, if I’m buying into the trend again I want a pair that can offer more of everyday look and work with several items in my wardrobe. I’m not really a fan of the all white and anything with too much black in seem too dark for summer. I’m an eternal pink fan so generally any styles with a touch of pink and grey are floating my boat but a lot of the colour options I fall in love with on Pinterest are no longer available so I’m considering the design your own option with Nike ID.
Really, we’re spoilt for choice with this trend so it’s pretty easy to make sure you have something a bit different from everyone else. Some of my favourites include these pink, grey and black Nike’s from ASOS, these Nike Lilac Light Essentials, this classic pink, grey and blue version from Harrods and these fab metallic numbers from their collab with & Other Stories.
